Tokyo Japan 14th June 2009 (Day 2)

Woke up early on the second day to prep  for the trip to Sano outlet. Bus was at 9am or something and the walk to the bus station from hotel was about 20mins.

While at the bus station while waiting for the bus we walking around Takashimaya building and snap some pictures and boy oh boy I love the bikes there.

The trip to Sano took about an hour plus soo we spent most of our time sleeping on the bus, I had my riceball on the bus kimchi flavour. Joyce did her research so we just zoom in on the targeted brands like Coach, Nike, Adidas, Paul Frank, Disney,Gap….then follow by the rest.

Mistake number 1 : Dont think that 3-4 hrs is enough to shop here. The mall is rather big and also do note that you will need to queue for lunch at most F&B outlet soo dont take the 315pm bus back to town but the 7pm bus. If you are going to shop at Sano better spend the whole day there and getting there is not cheap and that the discounts on most items are really really good so dont miss it..never knew that Tokyo can be a shoppers haven at outlet malls.

Joyce got 2 Coach begs at 50% off normal retail and we verified the normal pricing at Narita duty free Coach outlet. Was even cheaper then her pink Coach bag which I got in Toronto.

We got there about 1020am and cleared all the targeted brands by lunch time and queued for 20mins for this particular Tonkatsu place..Tonkatsu Wako is highly recommended by Mika san and surely this is spot on.

Boy had the kids meal while we were floored by the many many different combo meals and settled for the couple’s meal. All the different tonkatsu tasted super!!! Even Ton Ton at central also cannot fight!!! After a meal at T Wako, you know that pork is heaven sent!!! When u die and at the gates of Heaven..St Peter will ask did  you pork out at Wako?

After lunch we only had 1.5hrs to shop the rest which is not enough…sob sob I did not get to Baskin Robins and  Crazy Crepes….Vans, Diesel, Next and Levis was a go in look see and come out….you must plan to stay there the whole day!!!!

Overall, I would say that Sano Outlet is a good place to shop and chill for the whole day.

Tokyo Japan 13th June 2009 (Day 1)

We took the night flight out of Singapore to Tokyo. SQ had a promo offer of $600 per tix condition is 2 to fly soo the damage for air ticket was minimal for the 3 of us. Also I chose this timing as it was the A380 which boy boy have not taken before. Boy it was a good flight over as the food was good and the kid friendly freebies and drinks kept the little one a happy camper…helped alot that he slept 60% of the time which made it really easy for my wife.

Once we got out of customs and collected our check-ins. We headed out to get our bus tickets to bring us to hotel. I wanted to take the train but wifey said bus gets us directly to the hotel and not needing to lug our belongings around the busy Shinjuku train station.  Ok so LL lor.

Some websites rate Keio Plaza as 4 star..some say 5 star once you get there you fragging know it is 5 star and for SGD$220 per night for 3 is a steal as it is in Tokyo and central to Shinjuku the location is amazing.

The bell hop was a cute japanese gal named Miki who brought us up to the room and also she told us that as we have boy boy she will bring a kiddy pack for him.

Boy boy was curious about the attachment to the toilet seat and when he found out how to use it. Shit ball has an all new meaning to it now.

We had lunch at a basement Udon place and it was cheap 299 yen(S$4.50) a bowl of udon, I had curry udon at 499yen. (S$7.50) but after you add the fried stuff and total 3 orders of udon it came up to 1600 yen.

Don’t pay extra for breakfast at hotels which some up to about an extra S$15-20 per person per night.

Get your breakfast and supplies from 7-11, Family mart, AM/PM stores… a whole lot cheaper and also the food is very fresh there…it seems that Japanese take a lot to food and it all must be fresh. A simple break would cost you no more them S$10-12 for 3 people.

This was supper for me and Joyce. Thoese triangle rice balls are damn addictive I have one or 2 per day.

The hotel is 400m from Shinjuku main station and between the hotel and the train central is a smaller version of Akihabara AKA Simlim square. This game store is actually 5 levels of toys and consoles and other japanese theme games. As you can see XBOX 360 and the respective RPG hits are big there right now with Sony and Wii taking a back seat.

If you want to go to Sano Outlet malls you need to walk to Shinjuku south wing and look for this JR Bus station which is 2 units away from Uniqlo store.

East side of Shinjuku station is the shopping streets and also kabuki-cho. Had dinner at one of the small vending machines ramen/udon outlets but forgot to take any pictures but it was a cheap and good dinner that cost about 1200yen for 3 bowls.

nuff said for day one and we hit the sack early for the following day’s trip to Sano outlet.

Finally back after a week in Japan…damn man it was great fun going free and easy…no stress with just enough rest.

For those who are thinking of planning a trip there …will stay tune as I will be posting my 7 days in the Tokyo.

I aint no expert at travel and definately not after this trip but it would be a good learning point of my mistakes and hits about going there.
