Lousy Vista support from Creative for Audigy soundcards
Posted by divi1551 on August 13, 2007
Just to share with all. For those with Audigy 1/2/4 you know the pain.
Installing the drivers is a mother f**king pain for us trying to get it to work on Vista. No thanks to crappy and fussy drivers…. I had tried all the freaking versions of drivers off Creative support site..stopping short of calling their lame as hell hotline for support.
When I finally got it installed …..the MP3 playback via Winamp, Mediaplayer, iTune and any other player yield snap, pop and crack…yo yo yo … I aint talking bout cocopops …
the sound quality was really bad. Also when you play games ..half the time you get a D3D sound error…
Finally gave up and nearly wanted to yank the card out of the the casing ….then i decided to google for solutions…
then it dawn on me to look for 3rd party drivers…for all those who know Omega drivers for ATI and Nvidia will know what I mean here…
Move from one forum to the next and finally hellaluyah….found it.

A bunch of Audigy/SBLive lovers made a kickass set of 3rd party WDM (Windows Driver model)
The kX Project is an independent development project, focused on providing free WDM Audio Drivers for kX-Compatible sound cards.
The kX Audio Driver is an independent WDM (Windows Driver Model) driver for all EMU10K1 and EMU10K2-based soundcards manufactured by Creative Technology Ltd. and/or E-mu Systems Inc., including the SoundBlaster Live! series, the E-mu Audio Production Studio (APS) card, and the Audigy / Audigy2 series of cards.
Hallo Creative !!! waKE UP and do firing your current bunch of losers and hire these guys to write drivers for you…. This is your last chance to keep the sound card market…dont make us give up and move to Intel HD audio.
